Walt Kelly, 1969. Albert Alligator from Pogo. Japanese Soft Vinyl / Sofubi (Plastisol) Mint Green.
A testament to Japanese vinyl, considering it was released almost 45 years ago, it’s retained it’s bright color and paint applications. Obviously well handled, I picked this up at a recent Antique Fair by chance.
While the majority of what was encountered in the “modern” area of the fair was Art Deco (there seemed to be an endless assortment of polished steel hood ornaments) still, 1960’s and 1970’s toy product is starting to make a presence at luxury antique fairs. It seems to be “up and coming”, as they say.

I’m looking forward to finding archival dyed paper, doing an edition of litho prints, with a silk screen or spot color plate overprint.
