Leave it To Nike’s Mark Parker to spin the word “Otaku” into a nearly life inspiring term in his recent Wall Street Journal feature: “Have you heard the Japanese word otaku?” he muses. “It means being deeply obsessed by the details of something. I relate to that.”
Mark is certainly an exception as a CEO. He actually has abilities, AND uses them at work. Dude works out 2 hours a day too. Aside from being an astute industrial designer and athlete, he obviously has surrounded himself with what inspires him. Many of which are toys. I’m surprised he doesn’t have any Blythe pieces given his aesthetics and collection.
He uses his desk as a glass case top, this is interesting and it looks like he adds/subtracts to it at will. As a designer and illustrator I can see the value of gazing straight through your work into a little realm of what you love. It keeps me motivated.
Actually. Picotto seems about his speed. Someone let him know… We have one if he’d like it.
